Encrypted ACIS components no longer supported?

      Hello,

I am new to HFSS and still learning the tool. I am currently using the Ansys R2 2023 Student Edition.

Are ACIS components no longer supported in Ansys R2 2023 Student Edition?

I am having trouble placing vendor antenna components into my HFSS design.

All of the provided vendor component libraries contain ACIS models from what I can tell.

For example, I attempted to place each of the provided TDK antenna models into my design and received the following error without error code:

      HFSSDesign1 (Terminal Network)
[error] Prepare model:  Encrypted components created with ACIS are no longer supported. Please update the component definition to a new version created with Parasolid.
[error] Prepare model failed. (12:21:25 PM  Nov 28, 2023)

Is there a way to convert the ACIS model to Parasolid natively in the Ansys toolset?

Or potentially a way to enable a legacy mode that will allow ACIS models to placed in the design?

Any help is appreciated on this topic.

      Hello Jordan,

Unfortunately, no HFSS 2023R2 cannot simualte encrypted ACIS components due to the switch to the Parasolid geometry kernal. From the release notes:

"Projects containing 3D Components that are not encrypted will be migrated automatically to
Parasolid, and the modified component definitions will be saved in the project; however,
encrypted components cannot be modified. Projects containing encrypted components will show
a message during conversion, and components will be marked as unsupported. These projects
will open, display non-hidden geometry, and even post-process existing solutions, but will not
generate new solutions. To complete the migration of such projects, users must update all
encrypted components using new definitions based on Parasolid."

In short, you will have to contact the model provider to ask them to migrate the uncencryped component to Parasolid, and then re-encrypt the model and deilver it to you.
