SubscriberI am setting up a second license server in our environment to help better support the campus with ANSYS licensing, but some applications, mainly Electromagnetics, do not get a license.
I set up the new server and installed the latest version of the ANSYS license manager. I read in the license file provided by ANSYS. I pointed one of my clients to the new server, and as far as I can tell, all applications in the ANSYS install are getting licenses from the new server. However, I get an error when I try to launch Electromagnetics.
I did look at the license files being used by the other known working license server, and I don't see anything major missing or wrong. I have reloaded the license file, and that had no effect.
I have verified that the proper ports are open and reachable from the clients. There should not be any conflicts with this port as there are no other applications running on this server right now. Plus, ANSYS Workbench, SCDM, and other programs do work.
Here is a list of the errors that I receive (according to FlexLM license codes these indicate a problem with the license file, or that the license manager is just not running, but other products are working just fine):
Â
Failed to check out license 'electronics_desktop'.
Cannot connect to license server (FLEXlm Error -15)
Â
Failed to check out license 'hfss_desktop'.

Ansys EmployeeHello Syount,
What is listed in the following file:
c:Program FilesAnsysEMadminredirect.lic
If it does not have the new License Server hostname listed, please change to do so and try to run again.
Â
Best Regards,
Geo

Ansys EmployeeHello Syount,
Please check if you have any Firewall running on the new license server.
If its Windows Firewall, please add Firewall exceptions as shown in this video:

SubscriberIt was firewall. The original setup document that I used only specified 2 of the 5 exceptions that were needed. I added the remaining 3 and all appears to be working.

Thank you!
