Elastic Plastic Analysis of ASME Section VIII Division 2

      Dear community,

I am working on Elastic Plastic Analysis of ASME Section VIII Division 2 using Ansys 2024 R1.

In the ASME, it says "if convergence is achieved, the component is stable under the applied loads for this load case."

The material model for multilinear has been added, and the large deformation is activated.

How to know if the convergence is already achieved in Ansys?

What result should be obtained from the analysis?

What would happen if the convergence is not achieved?

      Hi

I can not help on the ASME related questions – perhaps other members of the forum who use it can procide feedback there.

How to know if the convergence is already achieved in Ansys?

      - If the solution is green and we have all green tick marks it means it is converged, if red tick marks are visible then it did not converge.

What would happen if the convergence is not achieved?

So here is purely from a FEA point of view and how to get convergence. So not related to any design and vessel codes.

See here for some more details (you can search for convergence and you will find many videos and discussions):

      All the best

      Erik
