December 2, 2020 at 12:12 pmLaurentMSubscriberHello,nI would like to use the Design of Experiment (DOE) module to find a good set of geometrical parameters to target specific capacitance matrix elements of a Maxwell design. So far I was able to run the DOE with specific goals and to find a good configuration for a specific set of capacitance values. If I now decide to change the latter, I have to rerun the DOE and it does not seem the reuse any of the simulations done previously.nIf I understand correctly the user manual section of DOE, this powerful tool is able to sample the design's parametric space. Is there a smarter way to use the DOE (maybe without specifying explicitly the goals) such that one is able to query the solved DOE module at his will to find many sets of geometrical parameters for multiple sets of desired capacitance matrix elements?nThank you for considering my question,nBestn

December 5, 2020 at 4:54 ampeteroznewmanSubscribernRead up on Response Surface and Reduced Order Modeling. That is a method of using a DOE to run set of simulations at a number of parameter setpoints to compute the response of a system using a detailed FEM. After running those simulations, a statistical model of the response data in the DOE allows a Response Surface to be fit to that data. nOnce you have the Response Surface equation, if you want to know the output of the system for parameter settings that were not simulated in the DOE, you don't need to run the simulation, you just plug those parameter settings into the response surface equation and it will predict what the simulation would have computed, but it only takes a second to compute that answer, while the full simulation of a single set of parameter values might have taken minutes or hours. The response surface equation is also known as a reduced order model.n
