Droplet break-up criterion in Fluent

      Hi!

I am trying to simulate the break-up of droplets in a microfluidic domain using Fluent, and could not get droplets to break. I was wondering if there is an option in Fluent to determine the break-up criterion, i.e. an option that says something like, "if the diameter of the droplet getting squeezed through a constriction falls below a threshold diameter, you should break it off."

Please let me know. If you can suggest any alternative strategies, that'd be great, too.

      Thanks,

      Abhishek

If you're using DPM then don't and read how it works. If you're looking at VOF, droplet break off will be a function of flow, but as surface tension forces dominate and you'll have very small cells it's a nontrivial application to model.
