Does Maxwell have transient thermal analysis with a motion setup?

Hello. I have a question about Maxwell and Icepak transient thermal analysis. I can perform a transient analysis with motion set up in the Maxwell program. With two-way coupling, I can also simulate temperature changes over time in Icepak transient. However, I cannot transfer the temperature changes in Icepak to Maxwell. In Maxwell, the temperature remains in a steady-state and does not change over time. My goal is to observe temperature changes in Maxwell along with motion. Is this possible?

      Hello Cagdas,

Maxwell and Icepak coupling can be done in two ways

1)One way coupling where the steady state loss can be transfered to Icepak for temperature computation

2)two way coupling where again the steady state loss goes to Icepak and the temperature computed can be fed back to Maxwell. If the material property of the component is defined as a function of temperature then the material property in Maxwell gets updated and a new loss can be computed. Please note in this case the coupling is not transient -transient.

First of all, thank you for your response. I am asking to confirm if I understand correctly. It seems that I cannot use Icepak(transient) and Maxwell(transient) two-way coupling to observe the temperature change of a moving object. In this case, what would you recommend using? I need to add temperature change to the motion obtained from transient analysis in Maxwell. Is Workbench Maxwell and transient thermal coupling suitable for this study? I would appreciate it if you could provide information. Best regards.

      Hello Cagdas,

We will not be able to import the temperature from Icepak/Mechanical thermal at every instant to Maxwell to consider the change in loss becasue of the change in temperature and that too with the change in position.
