Does anyone know what the exit code -99 means?

I'm simulating something with symetry planes, and after the first mesh step this error occurs and the simulation stops:

(Modal Network) [error] Solving adaptive frequency ..., process hf3d exited with code -99.

      Hi Alessandro,

It is difficult to assist with the shared information. Please share the screenshot of the whole message manager window for the design to help us serve you better.

      Best regards,

hats the thing, I'm simulating a transmitarray (horn antenna + metasurface) and the simulation stops at the first mesh step, the only error message I get is this one:

        TA_Symmetrie_plane (/scratchm/adeolive/)
          HFSSDesign2 (Modal Network)
[info] Dynamic selection highlighting setting is ignored for large models. (5:03:43 PM  Sep 28, 2023)
[error] Solving adaptive frequency ..., process hf3d exited with code -99. (5:20:53 PM  Sep 28, 2023)
[error] Simulation completed with execution error on server: Local Machine. (5:21:16 PM  Sep 28, 2023)

No more information, is there a log file in which I can get more details?

        Thanks

      Hi Alessandro,

Thank you for posting the full error message. Your patience on this is much appreciated.

Coming to your question, yes it is possible to look at the profile of the simulation to get more details. Right-mouse click on the solution setup and select "profile" to see the log of the model.

Please share the details of the profile to help us serve you better.

      Best regards,
      Praneeth.

I recieve the same error in Q3D from the capacitance solver, I highly suspect it relates to running out of memory during the meshing process. In my case, the error is easy to recreate as all it takes is attempting to mesh an over-complicated/large model.

It looks like "[info] Dynamic selection highlighting setting is ignored for large models. (5:03:43 PM  Sep 28, 2023)" hints at this being the case due to your model potentially being too large.

Caveat, I'm still working through my error messages with ansys support and my experience is mostly with Q3D.

        Hello Dario,

I ran the simulation through the command line in non graphical mode, by looking at the simulation log I could confirm that indeed it was a problem of lack of RAM for the process. In my case, it was due to a RAM limitation by each user on our calculation server, once i've increase the upper limit the problem was gone.

        Best regards,

        Alessandro
