SubscriberHi everyone! I'm looking to learn more about turbulence and I read about the Y+ value, but I can't find it. I did a simple case with k-e enabled, processed it in fluent and trying to plot it in cfd-post.Â

Ansys EmployeeHello,Â
If you want to know about Y+, there are many sources online or you can pick up any text book on boundary layers and you will find a detailed explanation.Â
You can also refer to this thread on the community for more information.Â

SubscriberHello,Â
I do not know how to plot it in CFD-POST, but you can do it like that before you run the simulation go to reports then select the area-weighted average of Y+ and select the surface of the problem domain on which you want to plot the Y+, then enable the report-plot and report-file option. Now Fluent will automatically write a *.txt file with an extension ".out" which contains Y+ value at each and every iteration and also the plot of the Y+ at each iteration will be plotted on the screen.
Â
Now for your with your *.txt file, you can convert it into Excel and then plot the data easily or you can import the excel file into CFD-POST to the same. The plot you get is Y+ v/s iterations if you want Y+ value at different points of the surface, you have to write a scheme file to generate the different surface and then to calculate the values to extract. This is what I have done.
Â
Thanks and Regards.

AdministratorHello,
You should be able to export the Wall Yplus results. In Fluent (standalone or in WB), go to File -> Export -> Solution Data. Change 'File Type' to CDAT for 'CFD-Post & EnSight'. Select all Data Quantities including 'Wall YPlus'. Write these Files and open this file in CFD Post. You should be able to see Wall YPlus data in CFD Post.
I hope this helps.
Best,
Karthik
