I have a design that has bolt pretension. I want to check at what Bolt pretension will the design fail. It is a Non linear analysis so I am using Multilinear curve to carry out analysis. The Material property is 348 MPa Yield strength and 580 MPa UTS. The True strength value for Ultimate tensile changes to 950 MPa using Pressure vessel code. I analyzed for various Bolt pretension and at 80 kN, the Von misses stress generated was 702 MPa. Since the values generated by Ansys are Always True stress- strain values, What should I compare this value to? Engineering UTS (580 MPa) or else the True value of UTS (950 MPa)?
