SubscriberHello
I am using the DPM model to simulate a particles injection from a nozzle. The nozzle has a spray pattern in the form of a solid cone with a spray angle of 30°.
Can you please tell me how to set the spray angle and solid cone shape for the spray pattern?
Spraying is carried out through a nozzle with a diameter of 0.3 mm into a closed container. I set the inlet as a circle with a diameter of 0.3mm. But I don't have the slightest understanding of how to make the shape of a spray torch - a solid cone and the right angle of the cone.Â
Attached a photo of the model below.
Thank you in advance for your help, this is part of my thesis, I'am absolutely beginner in Ansys -

Forum ModeratorPlease can you post the DPM injection panel? I want to see what you've set.Â

SubscriberHello RobÂThank you for agreeing to help meÂAttached below is a photo of the injection panel. I can't figure out how to set solid cone spraying. As I understand it, the speed in x,y,z allows you to set only one velocity vector, and not a set of vectors.ÂI will also add the information that I am modeling the spraying of solid microparticles from the inlet, a stream of CO2 also comes out of the inlet. I use Fluid Flow (Fluent). (perhaps in this software package it is impossible to set the shape of a solid particle spray torch and you need to use another package?) -

Forum ModeratorOK, solid cone is a separate injection type: look under the "injection type" option. Remember injections don't need to be linked to surfaces.Â

SubscriberHello RobÂI am very grateful to you, your advice helped me.ÂÂI was able to set the spray torch I needed for the particles. But I had a question how to make the gas flow out of the inlet also in the form of a solid cone. I attach my settings to the inlet panel (I have changed almost nothing from the standard ones).ÂÂ -

Forum ModeratorDo you want gas or DPM particles (bubbles)? For gas you'd need to use the Velocity Specification and set the components.Â

SubscriberMy model implies that solid particles and gas come out of the nozzle with a solid cone spray torch at the same time. The gas is a continuous phase, the particles are discrete.
In DPM (as I understand it) I set the speed and shape of the solid cone only for particles (a photo of the DPM panel with the parameters I selected is attached).
But, as I understand it, from the inlet with the parameters that I set, the gas flow does not come out in the form of a solid cone, but simply perpendicular to the plane (this is confirmed by the shape of the flow after I started the solver and got the results) -

Forum ModeratorThe fluid flow part would be a boundary, and you may use profiles/UDF/expressions to alter the direction. Look at the options next to Velocity Specification Method. Or you'll need to extend the domain a bit (very precise measurement) to let Fluent calculate the flow to give the cone.Â
The DPM injection then handles the solid particles (in your example).Â

Subscriberas this thread is still open, i wonder why solid cone has no parcel option

Forum ModeratorI'm fairly sure that the number of parcel is set by the number of streams and stochastic tries unless some other models are on.Â
