SubscriberHello
Please inquire about the discovery license.
As far as I know, if you only purchase Ansys Discovery, it will only be interpreted in the Explore stage.
And I know that I need to purchase an additional function (Add-on) for the refine stage analysis and Mechanical/Fluent linkage.Currently, our customers are using Ansys products (Mechanical/Fluent). Do these people need to purchase additional functions (Add-on) to link Mechanical/Fluent after performing analysis in Ansys Discovery?
I have confirmed that the button linked to Mechanical/Fluent is not activated when only Ansys Discovery is purchased.
Please give me a quick reply on this.Â

Discovery Modelling license will enable only Discovery Model mode and a Discovery Simulation license will enable Discovery Explore mode.
Whereas, for Refine mode, customer needs to have a minimum of Mech/ CFD Pro license for Structural/Fluid simulation respectively.
To activate the Mechanical/Fluent Transfer, Discovery needs to be a Floating license and not Subscription.
Also, please ensure that the licenses are on the same server and minimum Boundary conditions are defined before attempting to transfer.
Regards.

Then, if the customer has a Pro Level license of Mechanical / Fluent, will the Discovery Simulation license be transferred to the Refine stage and the Workbench?
Â
And is it possible even if the Pro Level license of Mechanical / Fluent is different from the Discovery version? (ex, Discovery 2021r2 / Mechanical 2018)

Forum ModeratorHi smjang
Yes the customer can transfer to the Refine stage and the Workbench if they have a Pro Level License of Mechanical/Fluent.
But the old version of this Pro license will not work, they will need to update this Pro level license version of Mechanical/Fluent to 2021 R2.
Regards.

SubscriberDevendra Badgujar Thank you. I guess I'll have to purchase an additional Pro Level license that matches the Discovery version. thank you.

I have one more question to ask.
Is the license of Mechanical/Flunet Pro Level of Discovery Add-ON the same as the Pro license belonging to Pro/Premium/Enterprise of Ansys Mechanical license? If it is the same, if a customer purchases Discovery Add-ON, is it possible to run Mechanical alone after installing the Mechanical file?Â
