Different Meshing for same settings for thin plates

      Hello dear

      I meshed 2 curved surfaces of the same body. I gave the same meshing option (bias edges and quad elements) but I am getting two different types of meshing. WHY?

      the above picture looks like you have also used face meshing there as well. In the below picture, the elements are still quad elements but just not "mapped and smooth'' enough.
      Plus, it doesn't make any sense in the upper picture for the mesh element size to decrease in the middle out of nowhere. You should write down all the meshing options you are using for each of the picture, in this thread.

      In both cases, it is a bias edge element and face meshing. but on the upper surface, it is mapped, and below it is irregular, why?
      I have a requirement of fine meshing at the center.

      ,most of the times when you cannot get the same mesh quality or smoothness as desired while meshing, it is because the mesh elements (that are being developed by ANSYS on the topology) cannot overcome the error criterias built into the software. Thats why ANSYS tries adjusting the element shapes in order to develop the elements in such a manner that they will be able to pass the error criterias. Try adjusting the size of the elements in the below picture and check again.
      Plus, although you might have a requirement of fine meshing at the center, but you should also be careful that the elements in the center don't appear to be "good" enough. I mean the Aspect Ratio and Quality of these elements don't appear to be acceptable. This means that you might encounter some convergence problems while conducting a non-linear analysis and if not, then the displacement and stress results in this region cannot be trusted to have acceptable accuracy.
