Difference between surface effect and direct pressure

      Hello, can anyone explain the difference between surface effect and direct pressure in static.

      TheSurface Effectoption applies force using thesurface effectelements created on the top of the scoped geometry. TheDirectoption applies force directly onto the faces of solid or shell elements in 3D analyses. In 2D analyses, theDirectoption applies pressure directly onto the edges of plane elements.

      The page in the ANSYS Help you have linked to doesn't explain what the surface effect elements do.
      What is difference in results between using direct vs surface effect for a pressure load on solid quadratic elements?
      If there is no difference, what is the benefit of the surface effect elements?

      TheDirectoption applies force directly onto the faces of solid or shell elements in 3D analyses. In 2D analyses, theDirectoption applies pressure directly onto the edges of plane elements.
      Surface effect elements need to be used when loads are applied on the overlapping surface. When the forces are applied at the same surfaces, in the direct method the force object specified last takes the priority.
      Also, the surface effect element is also useful for large deformation with rotation and area change.
      The surface effect element allows the application of complex pressures on the surfaces. For e.g, we have a wavy surface, and we want to apply a tangential pressure on the surface.
