SubscriberHello everyone
Is solidification and melting analysis more difficult to converge and does it take more time per iteration compared to conventional multiphase flow analysis?
While further investigation is required, my intuition is that iterations should finish quickly and convergence should be achieved faster because there should be minimal turbulence or fluid motion as solidification progresses.
I would like to know how the numerical behavior actually compares in practice.
Thank you

Ansys EmployeeHi,
Can you please explain what application you are comparing? There are many factors which contributes to the convergence both in case of solidification and multiphase cases.

SubscriberSorry for the late reply.
I’m comparing the VOF model with VOF + solidification/melting. Of course, VOF + solidification/melting takes longer than VOF alone.
This might be a silly question, but if the combined model is only 1.2 to 1.5 times slower, I’ll give it a try.
