SubscriberWith the 2020 R1 release of ANSYS it is now possible to define cross sections and assign them to line bodies within the Mechanical application (previously you had to use one of the ANSYS CAD tools, breaking associativity with the source CAD program).
The problem is I don't see how to define the orientation of the beam element within mechanical. There is an Element Orientation feature but it is only supported for 3d solids & shells.
In APDL the orientation of BEAM188 is defined using the K Node and in DesignModeler it is defined by an axis.
Is there something similar within mechanical? -

SubscriberThanks for that, while you're creating enhancement requests could you create one for a library of cross sections. Could be added to engineering data so cross sections could be pulled into Mechanical in the same manner as material properties.

Forum ModeratorSure, but I would like you to know both the things that you are requesting can be done from SpaceClaim right now.-Aniket
