Define Time Steps using APDL Command in Workbench

      Hi all,

Please i would like to know how to define time steps in work bench only by the APDL Command (DELTIM).

My problem is Not with writing the command but with HOW to use it in workbench without using the "Analysis Settings" Option for setting the time steps and end time?

      Any help is highly appreciated.
      Thanks in advance.

Why do you not want to use the Analysis Settings option in workbench?  If you do not want auto time stepping then turn it off for all steps.  Right mouse pick on the Graph window to select all steps. Then set the end time and time step for each load step or you can change define by from time to substeps and set the number of substeps instead of time step.   You can also switch define by for any load step from one to the other.

If you are doing a transient then you must set the end time for every load step. Then if you really want to use a command object you need to put values into any yellow field so that the model will start to solve.  Then right click on Transient Structural and pick insert command.  Type in the desired deltim command in the commands window and in the details of command set the step selection mode to first.  Unlike ANSYS Mechanical APDL the DELTIM setting will not remain active so if it changes at any load step you must insert a command object for every load step and type in the command.  If it never changes then change the step selection mode to all so that the command object is used for every load step.

      Thank you for your reply.

I need to know what do you mean or how to set this (Load Step Selection mode).

And i need to insert an APDL Command in the WB because in workbench i should define the each step manually that for a big number of steps it will be very difficult, so i am searching for a way to do it easily.

      Dears,

I'm trying to run a basic thermal simulation where I'm applying temperature. The problem is that I getting a result (plotting thermal distribution) at a instant point of time. How can I get the result after 60 second for example.

Appreciate your help since I have no a lot of experience in this field.
