critical error during installation of 24 R2 version

  I am having trouble during the installation of the software. The prompt says critical error, later on, it says instcore.exe not responding. The installation was 90% completed once, but in the progress log it said "RSS is disabled". When I started installation, I had not uninstalled the 23 version so eventhough, the installation was complete, I couldn't run the software. Hence I uninstalled the 24 R2 software and then I uninstalled the 23 version. Now I have tried installing and uninstalling the 23 version and installing the 24 R2 version but it stills gives the same prompt with the same error.

  I faced similar issue, installing 24 R2. Turns out, it was the Avast anti-virus software that was conflicting with the installation. Turning the antivirus shields off resolved the issue.
