SubscriberI am trying to model the H field of two coils using two waveport excitations of 1 W each, however this error keeps coming up:nCom Engine non-responsive since TIME, DATE. Can be due to CPU intensive processing or network problems.nWhen I asked our IT specialist, he said that it appears the program has hit a roadblock of sorts, and the process is no longer accumulating significant CPU time but it continues to write checkpoints every six hours to the log file. The system call trace shows that the process is in a loop waiting for something to happen that never does. Our IT specialist didn't know how to resolve this, and so we wanted to reach out to Ansys support to see how to resolve the issue. I would be happy to post the logfile and system call trace for the process if that could be of any help.n -

Subscribersometimes this happen when licensing process/server got unresponsive between heavy simulations, or you hit the abort, which did not deliver its message to the solver process because of heavy load. so hfss keeps trying something until the timeout is reached.n -

Hey AndyJP,nThanks for the help! Do you then know of any way to communicate to the solver process to get it to stop, or will it terminate once the timeout is reached?n -

SubscriberI don't know.nI either wait 5-10 minutes, or kill HFSS from the TaskManager.nIf you kill it, there is a risk that you need to restart the licensing server, or wait for the license lease check timeout at the server, which is veeery long; and sometimes not reached.n -

Ansys EmployeeHello Array, nCould you please try moving your TEMP directory from the default one (Say C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp) to another path? nYou can do this as,n Tools -> options -> General option -> DirectoriesnYou can create a new directory (Documents/Ansoft/temp) and use this instead of the default one.nPlease let me know if that works for you.nRegards,nVivekn -

SubscriberANSYS EDT/HFSS does not use system temp directory, it asks for its own TEMP path when installed, which is by default in user documents folder, if I am not mistaken.nnI recommend ALWAYS put the EDT/HFSS TEMP on the same partition where the project is located, so the large result data would be moved to results folder immediately.nnAnd I do not recommend using NAND SSD for that, HDD, 3Dxpoint(Optane) backed HDD, or pure Optane are fine.nnOther two rules are never using non-English characters and long paths to EDT/HFSS/Maxwell files. That software was programmed in 90's in America, where no languages other than English, and no file systems than other FAT and NTFS existed... Now Americans know that there is also Spanish exists in the world... it is similar to Japanese software market, which refuses existence of languages other than JIS-Japanese.n
