Use only displacement(U) as a convergence criteria Structural Static APDL

I am trying to perform an #structural #static analysis in #mechanical #apdl using only #displecement as #convergence #criteria, but the program automatically uses #force and #moment for convergence, is there a way to stop this?

I saw that in Workbench is possible to disable Force and moment in the Analysis Setting, but I cant find in Mechanical APDL.

      Hi,

Why do you want only displacement convergence? By default, Ansys operates in a program-controlled mode for convergence criteria, which means the software automatically selects the appropriate convergence checks for the problem at hand. Therefore if it selects force and moment, then these criteria are more important which relates to the physics of the problem. what exactly you are tryong to analyze?

      Thanks,

      Aurojyoti.

        Hello, Aurojyoti,

        Thanks for your answer,

I am simulating a slab under fire conditions using LS Files from thermal analysis. However, I encountered an instability problem caused by the thickness of the slab (SHELL 181 element) and thermal expansion of steel. The slab experiences compression due to thermal expansion even before temperatures reach 100 degrees Celsius. Currently, I'm attempting to address this issue by solely considering displacement to determine if there's an underlying problem or if alternative approaches are necessary.
