SubscriberHi all,
I just wanna know whether it is possible or if there is a command to constraint a displacement in only one direction, that means if I know that my assembly or piece cannot move in +Y direction but let -Y direction as free.
Â
Kind regards

Ansys EmployeeHi, if you have face bottom to it or under the applied displacement or force set the displacment in the face to 0 and load the top face in y direction, this should do the job.
Cheers, RamÂ

Forum ModeratorAre you using Mechanical? You can try compression-only support for this. Or you may want to use compression only (or tension only) spring with large stiffness, which is a beta feature in Mechanical.

Forum ModeratorHi,
Â
You can model an object in contact (frictionless contact) with the part of interest such that the object in contact does not allow the other part to move in positive Y and allows it to move in negative Y-direction.
