Subscriberhi everyone
i have a weird problem related to contact my model consist of two columns with intermediate beam with shear connections with distributed load on the column
my problem is even i am defining the contact as shown in the below photos and i checked contact status using the contact tool and turned out to be all closed i still see the beam deforming as if no contact exist between the bolts the shear plateÂ
the very weird thing here is that i am now applying load on the left column and i have the contact problem on the right column if i suppress that load and apply another load on the right column the contact problem will be in the left column and if i apply load on both columns the problem disappear i know it's weird but that what i have found
i really wish any one can help me with thatÂ

Forum ModeratorHave you defined contact between bolt shank and surfaces of the hole in the shear plate? If not try to define one and see if behaviour changes with smaller timesteps and larger pinball radius for that contact.

Forum ModeratorThat seems like contact between flat plate and underside of the bolt head, to me. Does it include bolt shank and plates as well?

Forum Moderatorok good, can you separate them into two different contacts? and then try using smaller time steps.
