SubscriberHi, I am trying to model rebar using "line" and the concrete beam-joint using "solid", but somehow ANSYS can't detect the contact between the line and the solid just as shown as the figure below (The circle part in the middle is the rebar). What might be the reason for this?
Thank you

One way to connect rebar line bodies to solid bodies is to have the nodes along the line body shared with nodes on the solid.
To do that, delete the holes in the solid body. Create two planes through each line body, use those three planes to slice (DesignModeler) or split (SpaceClaim) the solid. Place the pieces of the solid body into a new part (DesignModeler) or use the Share button (SpaceClaim) to share topology.
Now you will have a mesh that has shared nodes between the rebar and the solid and no need to use Contact.

SubscriberHi Sir. In the picture above, actually I forgot to form the sliced part into a new part during my modelling on design modeler. But, it actually produce a good result. Then when I form all of them into a new part, I notice that
1. The pullout force of the rebar reduce significantly
2. No connection between all of the 4 sliced concrete element (possibly due to I form them into one part)
My question is :
Should I really form them into a new part? and what is the usage of this feature?
Thank you
