How does commutation in brushed DC motor is different form brushless PM motor?

In a brushed DC motor commutation is achieved by mechanical means using commutator.

In a brushless PM motor commutation is achieved through electronic means, where the electronic drive switches the current to the winding by taking the rotor position feedback as reference.
