      Hi,

i have to to mesh a hollow cylinder geometry ONLY with hexahedrons, i'm struggling in combining two transition zones (ratio 1:3) one perpendicular to the other, as in the small cube that connect the two outer transition layers intersecting, i cannot find a way to get only hexahedrons (see attached picture)

How many elements are through the pipe wall thickness?

      Hi peter

in the fine areas i do 0,35 mm elements with edge division, the wall is about 3 mm thick, so i do 9 divisions, the transition zones are 0,7 mm large

What is the ID and OD of the pipe?  I will need some geometry to try it myself.

What version of ANSYS are you using?

Here is a surface mesh that uses only quad elements to transition from 1:3 elements.

Shell elements can be Pulled into hex elements using the Pull tool.
