Change radius of surface as parameter

Hello Community!
I have a surface that is a tube and will be a shell model.
I want to pull on the surface to change its radius, but that creates a solid.
Can someone explain how to change the radius of the surface without creating a solid?

You are going to want to set the Pull Option > Thicken Surfaces (which defaults to ON) to OFF.
