Capacitance Simulation

      Hi!

I'm trying to model changes in capacitance resulting from rotations. Results disagree with experiment completely. Where an increase in capacitance is observed experimentally as a result of the motion, the simulations show a decrease and vice versa! Naturally, I have already checked the frame of reference and definitions of positive and negative rotation. Has anyone else experienced this?

      Thanks in advance

Are you stepping through the rotations by changing a model parameter variable? Have you checked that the model is parameterized correctly by manually editing the value in the 'Design Properties' window and confirming the geometry looks as it should?

Yes! I have even CT scanned the phantom and imported the stl file to the program just to ensure that the experimental and simulation geometry are exactly the same.

How are you measuring capacitance? What frequency are you solving? Are you using HFSS or Maxwell?

I use the Maxwell electrostatic and calculate a Martix of capacitance values (Im working with a DC system). The structure of the matrix is explained in the help documents so I refer to that to find the different capacitance elements.

Do you have any suggestions or potential solutions?
