Cannot get Smart Cad Update to work with Solidworks

I cannot get ANSYS Smart Cad Uodate to work with Solidworks.  With this feature, ANSYS will uodate global variables in Solidworks and recalculate an analysis.  It worked in the Fall.  Please find attached the solidworks part file and two ANSYS archives.  One archive is a direct Smart Cad Uodate to Solidworks, Para1;  and the other is trying to go through Design Modeler talking to Solidworks.  Para_DM

I recommend trouble shooting Para1 first.

Neither work.  I can build the part in Design Modeler and it then works.

It is a simple cantilever beam.

Unfortunately this website will not allow me to upload solidworks part files or a zip file.

Joe, the website does allow zip files to be attached but has a 120 MB file size limit.  If you have a Gmail account, then you can attach a >120 MB zip file to a gmail email and gmail will create a link to that file on the Google Drive cloud storage. You can copy and paste that link into your reply for anyone to download.  The same goes for Microsoft OneDrive.

When you say Smart CAD Update, you just mean the ANSYS Solidworks direct CAD interface. I have that at work, however, I am not a SolidWorks expert.

Joe, you created an Expression in SolidWorks called DS_thk, but you didn't use it in the Boss-Extrude1 feature. That is why ANSYS isn't getting any different geometry.

On the left is what you have, on the right is what you need.

Works now, thanks for pointing this out.  I had the global variable, but it just was not linked to the dimension.  Many thanks.

Great!  Please click the Is Solution link on the post above. That will mark this discussion as solved. Thanks.

When you say "click the Is Solution link on the post above"  you should tell me I need to be logged in.  Spent many minutes trying to figure out why I was not seeing this link then noticed I was not logged.

I will include that in the future, thanks.
