Can you use symmetry planes in the FEEM solver?

      Hello,

Is there a way to exploit model symmetry in the FEEM solver? The usual symmetric/anti-symmetric boundry condition options do not seem to be available.

If they are not available, would it be a difficult feature request?

      Thanks

      Hello,

To my knowledge symmetry can be utilized in FEEM, but the workflow will be a bit different from MODE.

First you need to limit the simulation region to half of the structure and employ PEC or PMC boundary conditions as needed (this is briefly mentioned at the end of Waveguide (FEEM). Thereafter, the unfoldsymmetricdata command is used to unfold the obtained results. For PML can be applied in FEEM simulations by changing the boundary conditions to “shell”. This is accessed in the simulation region settings and in the General tab of article Simulation region for finite element solvers - Simulation object.

      I hope I helped.

      Dimitris
