Can we override general license on multiuser cluster?

We have a Linux-based (Rocky 8) HPC cluster.  The University has a general academic license. It is fairly limited but will do what most users need.  However, we have a few users from labs with individual licenses with more increments, and we would like to allow them to override our default license servers.  I thought they could install a file ~/.ansys/ansylmd.ini but that does not seem to be working. How can we best accomplish this?

      Hello K,

Can you confirm that the other user group and your group are connected via same network?

Can you launch the Ansys licensing setting and add server details there?
      Path: ~ansys_inc/ / licensingclient/linx64
      Run ./LicensingSetting

Do try and let me know.

      Wishes,
      Mrunali.

The two servers are running on the same University network.  The general license is served by central IT servers, the one to which we want to redirect is in a department.  But they are at the same university.

I don't have Licensingsetting in that path.  I do have something buried a bit, with a slightly different name $ANSYS_ROOT/v231/CEI/apex231/machines/linux_2.6_64/licensingclient/linx64/LicensingSettings.  That gave me an error.  I imagine it wants to write into ANSYS_ROOT.  We don't want to change that and users are not permitted to write to that directly anyway.

      I tried $ANSYS_ROOT/shared_files/licensing/linx64/ansysli_client and it wanted a command-line option

We used to have people export some environment variables, would that still work?
