Bonding of two parallel shells with an offset

      Hi guys,

I am new to Ansys and I am facing some problems while solving following task. In my simulation, I have two parallel plates lying on top of each other, which i want to "bond" together and subject to bending. I created midsurfaces from solids shown below.

nWhat is the exact purpose of your analysis. Are you interested in the force results across the interface? Or do you want to see results across the whole cross section? In case of the latter one you could simply merge both plates, created a single sheet and model it as either by 2d or 3d elements. If you are interested in the interface, create a bonded contact model using 3d elements and view results using contact tool.nRegards,nIshan.n

Hello,nThank you for your response in the first place. In fact, I am interested in the interface. These plates are parts of a much more complex structure, which is the reason why I want to use 2D elements...In this particular simulation, I just want to find out if results from model with bonded contact match the results from solid model. Unfortunately, there is a big difference in deformation (about 50 %) between these models. I was following this link (https://simutechgroup.com/bonded-contact-between-shell-faces-in-ansys-mechanical-workbench-v14-5/) when i tried to apply bonded contact. nRegards,nJany.n
