I watched a video in Ansys Innovation Courses, so I learned the bolt modeling as line body. For Case 1, the vertex of line is connected to plate of edge. 

Does the same method apply even if one of my plates has a blind hole for case 2?

Hi

In case 2 you can scope the beam/line body vertex to the circular face located at the bottom of the blind hole.
