SubscriberI have used a Beam connector to mimic a Bolt in a Harmonic response analysis. I'm interested at seeing the moments and forces seen by the bolt. However, I donot see Beam probe available in Harmonic response. And, even if I drag the Beam connector from Connection to Solution, the beam probe object shows that it is under defined (with a question mark). how do we probe the moments and reactions for a Beam connection in a Harmonic response analysis?

Ansys EmployeeHi Devaiah,
The beam probe will not work in harmonic analsysis. You need APDl commands for that. Please check out the post below to achieve it.

Hi Ankush,
Thanks for redirecting me to the relevant post. I have few questions-
1) Do I have to create an APDL commands object under Solution and paste the commands provided in the post and execute post commands? ( I tried this and it didn’t work)
2) Is it possible to know more about the post commands specifically mentioned in the post?
Thanks.

Ansys EmployeeHi
You can find all commands in the apdl command reference section of the help manual.
Â
In the script you need to adapt the set command (sets the results to look at) and the esel (not sure beam1 is defined ).
Hope this helps
Erik

SubscriberHi Erik,
Per your input I was able to get the desired results. Below is the code for reference.
Also, I'm wondering, is the bolt coordinate system used to arrive at these moments and forces? If yes, would the bolt cs be at the centre of the 2 scoped remote points which were used to define the Bolt connection?
Thanks.
