SubscriberHi Everybody!
I am facing with the problem shown by the uploaded pictures. The orientation of beam elements are chaotic regarding to the whole frame structure. It doesn't matter if I set the beam orientation in SpaceClaim, after generating the mesh it looks terrible.
Have you ever met this problem before? What is your advice?
Thanks in advance!
Regards, Balint

SubscriberMy advice is to use circular beam cross sections!
Just joking. That may be a real bug in the software.
What version of ANSYS are you using (19.0, 18.2)?Â
Which license are using (Student or Research)?
It would be helpful if you could save an Archive of your project (File, Archive...) and attach the .wbpz file to your post above.

SubscriberHi Peter!
Using circular sections would be the ultimate winner solution!

I am using version 18.2, and I have a full license from my university.
Find the geometry in the attachment in .pmdb format. The sections and the orientation is defined if you open the file in SpaceClaim. This file contains a deformed geometry from a previous analysis and I want to investigate the structural behavior with that distorted geometry, but it is not possible because of the disoriented sections. The layout of the project is simply a standalone Static Structural analysis.
Do you think that bug has been solved in version 19.0? I wonder if you can mesh the geometry with other versions.
Thank you for your time and help!

SubscriberHi Peter!
Yes I am also able to produce that mesh. It looks better, but still not good as members are not in the right way oriented even though they are set to orient the correct way in SpaceClaim (see attachment). Elements in Mechanical do not follow the settings from SpaceClaim.
Is there any option in WB to orient the elements in WB after meshing?
Thank you for your help so far Peter.

Balint

Subscriberhello Peter sirÂ
when i saw the spaceclaim file it has not share topology, whether share topology effect this type of distortion.
