Hi,Â
I am running a simulation in FDTD and would like to ensure that the auto-shutoff level is below 1e-05, as recommended in the tutorials. However, I obtained this graph. The auto-shutoff level suddenly increases at some point in the simulation after reaching 1e-04. Is there any explanation for this issue? I could not find a reason for the autoshutoff to not continue decreasing until 1e-05.Â

Hi Mariah,
Thank you for reaching out to us! Have you changed any of your simulation parameters (simulation time, auto-shut off level) to see if you get any different behavior? You might find this post helpful: Questions Regarding Autoshutoff level
Kind Regards,

Thank you for the reply. Yes I changed the simulation time but kept the autoshut off level the same 1e-05. When I set the simulation time to 2000 ps the autoshutoff is around 4e-05, so I increased the simulation time to 3000ps to see what is the exact time the simulation will terminate , and thought I could record something around 2400ps . However, this did not happen, and I noticed that the shutoff level showed that strange increase at some point of the simulation, after 2000ps. Does it mean that the simulation time I set is too long? But why it did not just shut when the simulation is around 2400ps or so ?Â

Hi Mariah,
Thank you for coming back, can you please confirm that after the complition of the simulation the auto shut off status is 2? I am affraid that you have been looking the progress of the auto shut off level and not the full completion. I would suggest to check the graph after the completion:
If this drops from 1 to 0 then the simulation reached the autoshut off level as expected.
Regards,
Niki

Hi, yes I have been looking at the progress of the autoshutoff level. Yes the status is 2 and it is the required graph. Thank you very much.
