SubscriberHello all,
I currently am simulating a heat sink with silicon heaters and an aluminum nitride base. While these materials are in the ANSYS Database, they like key material properties to complete any structural simulation. Thus, I need to implement any material properties I can find online. Similarly, since these two materials are both ceramics, they lack a yield strength assignment as they technically will not undergo plastic deformation. Therefore, when running a structural simulation for these materials, I obtain a safety factor of 0. I was simply wondering what other material assignments I should include for ceramics to avoid obtaining a default safety factor of 0.
Â
Similarly, are there any other external databases that are more thorough in defining material properties that are known?
Best,
Connor KosowskiÂ

Hi,
Â
The safety factor is always greater than zero if your model is stable. This means your model is not stable. Can you please check applying very small amount of load to it within the elastic range of the material. It could be due to an error in the setup of the simulation or an unrealistic load scenario. Please let us know if ithis is the case.
Thanks,
Aurojyoti
