ASCII files not being created – Toyota THUMS v7 – MPP

      Hi all,

I've recently switched over to using the Toyota THUMS v7 model, using MPP single-precision. I'm analyzing the heart during impacts to the chest. This simulations run great, but my ASCII data files which have been configured and created in PrePost (e.g., *rcforce and *elout, etc.) are not producing. While they have been set up the same as I did to generate *elout and *rcforce in the previous TOYOTA THUMS v4 model, it doesn't seem to create these files for me. Interestingly, my *glstat does produce though and I can see initial kinetic energy etc.

The only difference is that I have switched over from SMP to MPP now. Is there perhaps further changes that are required? I'm not understanding why my *elout files will not produce now.

      Thank you in advance, Grant.

      Hello,

I had a similar problem before due to the way binary files are created for the MPP solver. I recommend checking if you have files named binoutyyyy and loading them into LsPrePost using the Binout option. There you should be able to find many of the ASCII information you accessed individually before.
Others like the glstat file are indeed created regardless of the SMP or MPP solver. You can find more information in the *DATABASE section of the LSDyna Manual vol I:

        Hello Andres,

Thank you for your detailed reply. So if I am understanding you correctly, I need to adjust the Binary option in the ASCII keyword setup to be for EQ.2 since I am now using MPP. Did I understand that correctly? And then once I have done that and run the simulation, I can then load the *elout and others like *rcforce by loading the 'Binout' option in the ASCII in LsPrePost?

Currently, I have been using EQ.3 which did not allow for me to see any sort of Binout option, however I did have those binoutyyyy files (2 of them) as you mentioned but no way to open them. I am assuming this is because I was supposed to use EQ.2?

        Thank you, Grant.

Binout files can be postprocessed e.g. with LS-PrePost
