SubscriberDear All
I am trying simplified micro-model for a masonry wall in ANSYS Workbench. I am using Frictional Contact between the Masonry element with following properties:
E = 9250 N/mm2
Coeff of Friction = 0.6
Normal Stiffness, FKN = 1.0
therefore programme is calculating Normal Stiffness = 9250 N/mm2
However the programme also assigning the Tangential Stiffness, FKT = 1.0
hence the tangential considered for the analysis = 9250 N/mm2
How do I change the FKT = 0.5? in Workbench.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

Kind regardsÂ

Ansys EmployeeHi cnac,
I agree with Aniket that cohesive contact debonding should be able to model such behavior. You can assign bonded contact between the mansory and the contact behavior is controlled by traction-separation law. And the contact will be deactivated to allow cracking when the failure criterion is met in the cohesive law. (More info can be found here:Â https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v201/en/ans_thry/thy_mat11.html?q=cohesive%20debonding)
I've done similar research by applying cohesive elements to every element boundary to model concrete cracking, and below are some images.
Regards,
Wenlong
