Applying wind load in AQWA

I am trying to apply a wind load on a sail profile of a yacht in ANSYS AQWA to determine the effect of wind on my vessel motions. Has anyone been able to achieve this?

I have tried to model my vessel as one part with multiple bodies (i.e., split at waterline) and as two separate parts. I tried to apply wind force coefficients but there is no change in the diffraction solution.

I then only applied the wind in the hydrodynamic response module and there seems to be a slight change but then I increase the wind-speed from 10m/s to 1000m/s and the response doesn't change.

My question is how can I apply a wind force to my sailing ship? and how do I know where the wind force is being applied?

      Thanks.

Hi, Hydrodynamic diffraction doesn't take into account any environmental factors besides the unit regular wave at the defined frequencies and directions. You need to define the wind coefficient for your geometry and then add wind profile to your hydrodynamic response analysis to get wind force applied. Wind forces are applied to the gravity centre using Equation 7.1 in Aqwa Theory Manual.
      Hope this helps.

Hey thanks a lot! I am able to generate the wind force at the CoG now. Unfortunately the wind force cannot be applied in a 'user defined' location so I cannot use AQWA to simulate the motions of a sailing ship in its sailing state?

You may consider applying a point force instead of wind forces if you just want propulsive forces and know the force value.
