AnsysWBU.exe encountered a problem…

      Hi.

I've been having the same problem for the past month on my Windows 11 PC. I use a Intel i5 core and use a Nvidia GEFORCE GTX graphics card.

      I'm currently on 2024R1 version.

      I have tried everything from another thread, some of which includes;

      • reinstalling Ansys Workbench (both 2023 and 2024 version)
      • changing the name of the appdata folder to "_old"
      • In the the Design Modeler < tools < options < Mechanical < Analysis Settings and Solutions < Analysis Data Management < Scratch Solver Files Directory < specifying a folder for scratch

I am able to open projects and import files into 'static structural', but then I'm shut off from doing anything else.

This message pops up every time I try to generate an imported file into the design modeler (from static structural). Any imported file wont generate and the Design Modeler closes.

      Any suggestions?

Some computers have 2 graphics processors, often one is "Intel" and the other is an "nVidia"
We need to set the nVidia to be the "preferred" graphics adapter
See if you can find "nVidia" control panel.

Control Panel > nVidia control Panel > go to 3D settings > Manage 3D settings > Under Preferred Graphics Processor > choose nVidia > Apply.

      -----------------------

Go to the Nvidia website and download the latest driver for the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

      Hi Gary.

I've applied the nvidia GPU as the preffered one on the control panel. The driver was the latest one available.

I rebooted the computer and tried again, but the problem still persists.

      Hi Patrick

      Duplicate the crash
      Run Windows System Information..
       in: Windows Error Reporting
For easier searching, save the Error list as a text file with File > Export
Search the list for the name of the DM executable (AnsysWBU.exe)
...I am interested in the corresponding Faulting Module Name

psxlatorbase.dll is the Parasolid library module. It not common to see a crash in this module.

Are you able to import a simple file like IGES or Parasolid into DM and edit?

      There are samples here: C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v241\ansys\ac4\examples\

      Hi Gary.

I tried one from the examples list (< examples < para < torsionbar.xmt_txt) and I'm able to generate in DM and load the model into mechanical and solve for various.

Ok. It seems the problem is with your actual model, or with your workflow.

      Can you elaborate on:
"This message pops up every time I try to generate an imported file into the design modeler (from static structural). Any imported file wont generate and the Design Modeler closes.
