SubscriberThe additive build step seems to be taking quite a long time to proceed. Is this normal? Are there ways to reduce the calculation time?

Ansys EmployeeIs it converging successfully, but very just very slowly? What kind of feedback are you seeing in your solver output? Assuming convergence is good, but slow, are you taking full advantage of parallel processing? Refer to the Performance Guide of MAPDL for tips on enhancing solver performance.
Of course, there are other things you could try to make your model more efficient from the start, like using a variable layer height, if you are using a very fine mesh in noncritical areas. Perhaps also an inherent strain method would have merit for efficiency, if you are satisfied with the simplifying assumptions. See Chapter 6 of AM Analysis Guide for more details.
