ANSYS static structural error

      Hello all,

I am trying to do the ANSYS static structural simulation on my assembly component.

And it is showing error. I have used mesh size for wings= 3mm and for ring= 10mm.

Meshing is done properly but when I start the simulation it doesn't solve.

The assembly is underground and it is surrounded by the wooden pellets and working condition is 40 degrees celsius.

I want to check for the deflection and stresses produced in the components while removing from the ground having wooden pellets.

Please provide a lot more detailed information and insert some images to show your model, the BCs and Loads, the Analysis Settings and the error.

      the error is:

An unknown error occurred during solution.  Check the Solver Output on the Solution Information object for possible causes.

      Warning:

At least one body has been found to have only 1 element in at least 2 directions along with reduced integration.  This situation can lead to invalid results.  Consider changing to full integration element control or meshing with more elements.  Refer to Troubleshooting in the Help System for more details.

You are using a very old version of ANSYS.  Release 14 doesn't have the improvements that went in over the last 6 years to make it easy to resolve problems. For example, in the current version there is a menu pick to Show Bodies with 1 element in 2 directions.  I don't know if that is available in Release 14. Please try to upgrade to the latest version.

You will have to go through your model, body-by-body until you find the long thin body that has only 1 element in 2 directions, and add a mesh control to make sure that there are at least 2 elements across the thickness. Then try to solve again.

      Ok. Thank you Peter.

I will upgrade my ansys version and will try one more time.

      Dear all,

Now I am having these two errors after starting to solve the simulation:

      1. At least one body has been found to have only 1 element in at least 2 directions along with reduced integration.  This situation can lead to invalid results or solver pivot errors.  Consider changing to full integration element control or meshing with more elements.  Offending bodies can be identified by Right-clicking in the Geometry window and choose Go To -> Bodies With One Element Through the Thickness.  Refer to Troubleshooting in the Help System for more details.

      2. One or more bodies may be underconstrained and experiencing rigid body motion. Weak springs have been added to attain a solution.  Refer to Troubleshooting in the Help System for more details.

      1. Offending bodies can be identified by Right-clicking in the Geometry window and choose Go To -> Bodies With One Element Through the Thickness.  Notice how much more helpful this warning is compared with the old release.

      2. This is a warning, not an error, and may have nothing to do with the reason why the model failed to solve.

The error message tells you to look at the Solver Output. Click on the Solution Information folder under the Solution branch of the outline. The first line has a pull down, and Solver Output is one choice, and is the default.  There will be a long text file in the main window. Crtl-F will allow you to search for the word error and see what it says.

That is saying the computer does not have enough RAM to run this model.

Please reply with your computer specs.

I have 8 GB ram in my computer.

Your computer has 2 cores. Maybe ANSYS 2019R1 defaults to 4 cores?

In Mechanical, find the menu that has Solve Process Settings and open that.

      Click on the Advanced Button.

Where it says Number of Cores, type 2.

      Did that help?

Should I change all the 3 values? If yes, which value should I enter?

Just change the Processors.  But this is the Options window from the Workbench program.

I was talking about the Mechanical program.

Tools > Solve Process Settings > My Computer > Advanced.  You get a different window.

No. it does not work. It again shows the same error.

The things you said were already default.

And I also tried to change my GPU acceleration to AMD Radeon but it does not show AMD Radeon, instead it shows NVIDIA.

      Hello Ritesh,

Are you running into the error for just this model or all the models?

For test purposes, Can you create a very simlpe test case say a box or cylinder geometry, Linear static, one fixed support and one force, then save the project to say c:temp and run it.

If that works then for your other project please save the project to a simple path without any spaces in the path or folder name

      i.e. instead of

      D:RITESHMS Study MaterialWorkspaces-20190324T131209Z-001Workspaces-20190324T131209Z-001

      use below to save project

      D:RITESHtemp

      D:RITESHMS_Study_MaterialWorkspaces-20190324T131209Z-001Workspaces-20190324T131209Z-001
