While I have reported my issue to my regional Ansys Partner support team, we have not resolved the issue yet. So, I am trying to seek any help here when I wait for answers.
I installed only ANSYS License Manager and Rocky (2024R1) on Windows 10 (x64) from the ANSYS current release (accessed on May 28, 2024).
I loaded my purchased license file locally in Ansys License Manager, which then shows 1 Rocky PrePost license and 1 Rocky Solver license available. I can start Rocky GUI and Ansys License Manager shows 1 PrePost license in use.
But when I try to run a simulation by clicking 'Run, Rocky will show a error message window saying “Cannot find path to Solver license”. I tried several different ready-to-run simulation cases from Rocky Tutorials so I know it would not be an error from a specific simulation setup.
How can I determine if a firewall could be an issue in this case? What external website (URL) Rocky or ANSYS License Manager will try to connect to when Rocky starts to run a simulation? My institution has admin restriction to firewall configurations and thus I cannot turn off firewall settings.

Hi Yidong,
In your start menu type %temp%> .ansys> over there will be a file named "*rocky", please share screenshot of that file.
Also set the environment variable ANSYSLMD_LICENSE_FILE = portno.@servername in your system environment settings and try to relaunch the application.

Raj, thank you for your reply. Please see my response below per your instructions.
Also set the environment variable ANSYSLMD_LICENSE_FILE = portno.@servername in your system environment settings and try to relaunch the application.
I assume "portno." is "port number". What does this port number can be?
In your start menu type %temp%> .ansys> over there will be a file named "*rocky", please share screenshot of that file.
The screenshot is below. I am also copying and pasting the content in the file "licdebug.INL466957.ROCKY.241" for your inspection. I do see error related messages. Hope that would give you clue how to fix the issue.

Raj,
BTW, from early on, per my regional ANSYS support team’s suggestion, I tried adding a new environment variable like you suggested: ANSYSLMD_LICENSE_FILE = 1055@my_servername
But it did not help solve my problem. Thanks.

Raj,
Glad to hear from you again.
My regional supporter is PADT. Currently, Ansys contact person Vijay is in touch with me. I have installed 2024R1 SP3 but still having the issue. Vijay has all the dianostic files needed from me today to parse the issue. But please, if possible, touch base with Vijay Prithiv regarding my issue. An internal ticket has not been created yet regarding my issue, according to Vijay.
Thanks.
