Ansys EmployeeYou can create a new material database using the Materials Manager in nCode, but you do not need to create a new material database to use Ansys nCode DesignLife via Workbench. You need to define the material in Engineering Data.
The error you are receiving is probably caused by an inconsistent material definition. When doing an SN analysis in DesignLife, the material definition must agree with the SN Method. By default, the Workbench Integrated Ansys nCode DesignLife systems are set up to use a multi R-ratio SN curve. You need to define a multi R-ratio curve or you need to change the default settings in the integrated systems.
In Engineering Data, SN curves are commonly defined using multi mean stress curves.Â
So, the defined SN curve may be inconsistent with the DesignLife settings.

SubscriberThank you very much for you reply, Daniel. That made a lot of sense.Â
In Engineering Data, I ended up duplicating the closest nCode material to my new material. From there, I updated the properties of that duplicate nCode material to the ones I was interested, including an SN curve with an R-ratio. It worked!!Â
