      Hi,

I recently updated Ansys to 2023 R2. And it took me some time to locate Mechanical APDL in Workbench. Normally it is on the starting list.

I tried to create a 3D model and export as cdb file. The issue is that the cdb model can not be read in either Hypermesh or Actran.

In Hypermesh, it shows Resolution: The element is not processed

In Actran, the model only includes isolated nodes.

Is there any way to fix that?

      Thanks!

      Xin

      Hi,

If you export the .cdb file in earlier versions - does it work fine? Also, ou can try comparing different .cdb file using notepad app.

      Regards,

        Hi

When APDL is included in Workbench, the cdb mesh does not work. It happens in earlier version.

I compared the former mesh to the failed mesh. The failed mesh is missing something at the beginning and the end. If I add to the code, the mesh will work.

      Hi Xin Yan

The MAPDL cdb format was updated at version 2023R1.  Please reach out to Hypermesh and Actran technical support to find out when they will be implementing the necessary changes.  Mike

        Hi Mike

        Thank you for the reply.

I tried Ansys 2020 R2 where APDL is in Workbench to export the cdb file. The mesh does not work either. They are generating the same code. Xin

Search for where the element types are defined and compare.
