Ansys Licensing Problem

      Hello,

I have installed an academic version of Ansys on the device of my university department. After the installation I get the following message

The ICT of my istitution has not been able to solve the problem changing the ansys.lmd file as I have read in other messages on the forum. Also I can't see any of the components I would be interested in, so I think there should be some problem with the installation procedure or the licensing server, but other users in my istitution can use Ansys with no problems, so I guess it should be a problem with my device or its connection to the server

      Hello Davide,

The given error says that your machine/laptop is not connected to the license server.
      Cause could be:
      1. Not pointing to correct server

      2. Your laptop cannot identify the server name

      3. Not connected to vpn

      4. Port 1055,1056,2325 are blocked on either client or server end.

      5. Firewall could be blocking ansys applications/ports/services.

      6. Your laptop is not connected to stable network.

Can you go to Ansys Licensing  Settings and check if the correct server name and port number are mentioned?   To make changes in Ansys Licensing Client Settings please run it as administrator.

Are you able to ping or telnet your server, in the command prompt try using cmd “ping servername” and “telnet servername 1055”?

To ON telnet service go to start and search “Turn Windows feature on or off” check box “Telnet Client” and click ok.

Go to the start menu and open command prompt, and run the below-mentioned commands:

      1. ping servername

type this command and send the screenshot of the output.

      1. telnet servername portnumber

A blank screen will confirm that you are connected, if you get any other output, please provide a screenshot of the same.

      Wishes,
      Mrunali.

      Thank you for the answer.

When I wrote in the cmd "ping servername" I got the following message: Connection to *servername*... Unable to open a connection to the host on port 23: Connection failed

While when I wrote in the cmd "telnet *servername* *portnumber* I effectively got a blank window.

It seems like it can connect if I insert both the servername and portnumber, but I cannot communicate with the server otherwise, and the number 23 of the port in the first message is not the one corresponding to the portnumber I am given by my university.
