SubscriberHello,
Our lab uses the latest version of Ansys HFSS (2024-R1) on Linux CentOS 7 (Based on Redhat). If HFSS is left with an open project for a while (>1 hr) idle, it freezes on a blank screen and causes loss of data.
If anyone encountered this issue before and solved it, I would appreciate the help to solve it.
Thank you in advance.

Ansys EmployeeIf HFSS is hanging on a blank screen in Linux, one possible cause could be the presence of '/' characters in the project name. In Linux, the '/' character is a path delimiter, which is not the case in Windows. Removing these characters from the project name has been known to resolve the issue. This was discussed in a forum post titled "Issue with HFSS on Linux Hanging During Simulation Setup".
Additionally, if you are running distributed memory simulations, ensure that HFSS is installed in the same directory on all machines in the cluster, the cluster is uniform (e.g., all Linux machines), the version of the third-party MPI software is identical and supported on all machines, and that all machines can be reached on the network. These troubleshooting steps are detailed in the documentation "Troubleshooting for Distributed Memory Simulations"

SubscriberHello Aymen,Â
Thank you for your help. In my case, the problem can be reproduced by loading the Circuits/LNA-DC example. The project does not have '/' character, and simulations runs fine. The problem appears if I leave the tool open for some time, it freezes.
Any solution is greatly appreciated.

Ansys EmployeeHi Nader,
Could the computer or monitor be going to sleep and thus causing this? -

SubscriberHi Aymen,
We use HFSS on our lab Linux servers. These servers never go to sleep.
This is a consistent behavior to hang after a while, there are no errors, nothing in logs that is useful.Â
Is there any way we can debug this?
Many thanks for your help.

Ansys EmployeeCustomer video Matrox G200 is not suitable for 3D engineering.
ANSYS does not test/support X-Forwarding.
Customer should update video card to suitable/tested and use a server-side rendering remote graphics software (VirtualGL w/ VNC)

We utilize HFSS on our lab cannacraftcorner.com Linux servers, which are always operational and never go to sleep. However, we’re encountering a consistent issue where the system hangs after a while, without any useful errors or logs to pureplantpleasures.com assist in debugging. Is there any method we can use to diagnose and troubleshoot this problem? Thank you for your assistance.
