Hi,
I recently moved my temp folder from my C to D drive, as well as changing the temp file directory on Workbench. However, when I tried opening Fluent 2023 R2 from my Workbench, the app opens then closes itself immediately. I am not so sure how to solve this problem, or how it started in the first place.

Hi Junya,
Can you verify if standalone fluent is working as expected?

I have tried running FLUENT by itself as an administrator, but it still experiences the same problem. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling ANSYS, but that does not work too.
To add on to this, I have also ran the following commands on Command Prompt, based on a similar post made on the forum:
set HOOPS_PICTURE=dx11
"D:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v232\fluent\ntbin\win64\fluent.exe" 3d -t2To which Fluent did open but with the following error message:

Hi Junya,
- Clear the cache of the Fluent application by renaming the Ansys folder to Ansys.old (type in windows search bar %appdata% or C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Ansys), rename .cfx and fluent.conf folder(C:/Users/username), relaunch the application to check if you can launch it successfully.
- Screenshot of the error if any?
- Is this issue occurring only for the CFD application, can you please check if you can successfully launch other Ansys applications too?
- When you launch fluent application (fluent utility) can you click on reset to default?
- Can you please check if any security software/ antivirus is blocking the Ansys CFD application?
- Can you please check if any av/security s/w is blocking it?
>> Launch the application then, Go to Start Menu à Event Viewer à Windows logs à Applications. Check for Error in it, send screenshot if possible.

1) I have renamed the folders and the same error occurs (i.e., the window opens then closes itself immediately). Using Command prompt, I get the following window on Fluent:
3) It would seem I am able to open other apps such as Discovery, Design Modeler or CFD Post, so it would seem that the problem is restricted to Fluent only.
4) When I open the window above I can click on tabs such as Physics, User Defined etc. but not File.Â
5) The app has been allowed through Windows firewall and other antiviruses.

As I mentioned, when I open Fluent directly the window opens then closes immediately and so I was not directed to the launcher. The screenshot in my reply was taken when I ran the following commands:
set HOOPS_PICTURE=dx11
"D:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v232\fluent\ntbin\win64\fluent.exe" 3d -t2I was directed to the window where I took the screenshot earlier.

I see, can you check your event logs too?

I have tried running the commands:
setx HOOPS_PICTURE dx11
"D:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v232\fluent\ntbin\win64\fluent.exe" 3d -t2
Â
The same error as shown in the screenshot I send earlier occured again.

Just run setx HOOPS_PICTURE dx11 in the command prompt and launch the fluent application through the start menu.

I have tried that and the same error happens again; the Fluent window opens then closes immediately.

My Windows is also updated to the latest version of Windows 10.

Can you go to .ansys folder (type %temp% in start menu) and open a file ending with the name *.FLUENT.232.out, send the screenshots of that file.
Also, search on Google regarding your ucrtbase.dll error (event logs) that you are facing while launching the fluent application.

Hi Junya,
Please have a fresh uninstall and reinstall. Also shorten PATH environment to just the C: Windows values.
Once you uninstall the application delete Ansys, SpaceClaim folder (%appdata%), .ansys (%temp%) and .cfx, .fluentconfig (C/Users/username) and then reinstall the application.
