Hello:

I am running Ansys 2020 R1 and when I try to open fluid flow results as shown in the picture below I get the error saying that Application failed to connect. Detail is shown in the picture.

I have seen a similar problem in the forum with Ansys 2018 which he fixed the issue by reinstalling Ansys. I tried to reinstall Ansys workbench but the error persists.

Go to (default location) C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v201\prereq , then manually run all the installers here one-by-one. Make sure they are all successful. You can skip the opencl and MPI related ones. You may need to reboot after this.nThen, open up CMD Prompt and enter the following commandnmove %appdata%\ansys %appdata%\ansys.oldnmove %USERPROFILE%\.cfx %USERPROFILE%\.cfx.oldnDoes this help ?nIf not, please post the output of nsetncommand from CMD Promptn

Thanks for your reply tsiriaks.nI do not have a prereq folder in my v201 folder. nThese are all the folders in v201. There seems to be no installers in any of these folders. n

There must be some issue during the installation. You are missing lots of files/folders here.nI recommend to completely delete ANSYS Inc folder before you try the reinstallation. Also, if you can temporarily disabling anti-virus software during the install, that would be good.n

hi i have this problem also ,i use the way that you say but the cmd is like this C:\Users\marti>%appdata%\ansys %appdata%\ansys.oldnmove %USERPROFILE%\.cfx %USERPROFILE%\.cfx.old
'C:\Users\marti\AppData\Roaming\ansys' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
