Y-Direction of Point Mass

How does the location in the Y-Axis direction affect the result? If the point mass is on the top, or in the bottom, or in the middle? Does it even matter?

      Hi,

I don't see any question here. Would you kindly post here the query you have?

      Hi,

I assume you're asking what will happen if you position your point mass in different vertical locations along the y-axis.
The answer to this is that it will introduce a moment that will be proportional to the distance in the Y-axis between the point mass and the slab.

If I have a small regular plate sitting on top of the beam, what should my y position be? Like 0?

If the thickness of the plate you mentioned is not significant, then the Y-axis distance between the Beam and the point mass can be zero.

To my understanding, the y-axis distance is the distance between the center of mass of the point mass to the surface of the beam, is that correct?
