Ansys Electronic Desktop EDB File Corrupted Associated with .aedb Design file

      Dear Community,

I am facing some issues while opening one of my design file on Ansys electronic Desktop (Electromagnetics Suite 19.0).

When I try to open it the following message is displaying :

"EDB seems to be corrupted. Would you like to recover from autosave files ? Current edb will be backed up to C.../.../myfile.aedb.bak" with 2 options "Yes' or "No". Whatever is the answer a second message pops up saying:

"I/O error in reading design" with the following message in the console :

"edbkem:atabase:pen error: edbkem::Exception There is no valid edb located at C:......myfile.aedb.

edbkem:Block::Lock error: oaException 3042: Received exception from DMFileSys plug-in when accessing library 1_lock: #9014: oaException" #188: Unable to create a directory C:......myfile.aedblock. OS error code: '3': "The system cannot find the path specified. .... (last OS error: 3)

edbkem:atabase::RecoverAutoSave warning: edbkem::Exception Can't lock save as directory."

I know I deleted all the other file but the .aedb containing my designs to save space on my disk.

As far as I know my designs look intact as they show on the thumbnail of the file.

Has anybody experience the same error ? If you have anymore questions let me know.

      Best Regards,

      Maxence

      Hello Maxence,

These type of errors usually occurs when you are moving/copying/transferring the .aedt file to some other file location without archiving it. This may cause model corruption because of .aedb folder and related file loss. While creating the model, you might have used other Design Tools in the same project like Circuit design etc. and those design information will be present in the respective .aedb file. You always need the tail folders for a non-corrupted model, no matter you found the model picture intact on the Thumbnail view.

      Regards,
